Advancial Members Raise $23,674 for Second Harvest Food Bank of South Louisiana
LAFAYETTE, LA (December 13, 2023) – Members of Advancial Federal Credit Union raised $23,674 through their 3rd annual Swipe and Support campaign benefitting Second Harvest Food Bank of South Louisiana. The final total was announced during a check presentation at Second Harvest Food Bank’s facility on Monday, December 12.
Since its inception in 2021, Advancial’s Swipe and Support campaign has raised over $60,000 for Acadiana organizations, including Downtown Lafayette Unlimited’s development of an accessible playground for children with special needs or disabilities and Acadiana Animal Aid’s Transport Program to help support their lifesaving work for unhomed animals throughout the region. Advancial launched this year’s partnership with Second Harvest Food on September 1 and concluded the program on November 30. During the program, a percentage of all Visa® Rewards Plus cardholder transactions in the Acadiana area were donated to support the organization’s Makin’ Groceries Mobile Market, which brings healthy, affordable food options to areas in our community with limited or no access.
"We are immensely grateful for Advancial's generous support of the Makin' Groceries Mobile Market and we believe the Swipe and Support initiative is a testament to Advancial’s commitment towards improving lives in the communities they serve. Through their contribution, we can expand access to fresh and nutritious foods to more neighborhoods, tackling critical issues such as food insecurity and lack of healthy food options. Their effort not only strengthens our ability to create a more equitable and sustainable food system but also underscores the importance of collaboration towards building a stronger and healthier community," said Natalie Jayroe, CEO and President of Second Harvest Food Bank.
“I continue to be blown away by our Acadiana members,” says Lacey Maynor, Advancial’s Community Development Manager. “We increased our goal to $20,000 this year, and our members still rose to the occasion. Not only did we surpass our goal yet again, we also hosted food drives to which our members showed up in full force with generous donations. Second Harvest has been nothing short of amazing to work with, and their dedication to health and wellness in our community is inspiring. We are grateful for their partnership in this initiative and hope they are as thrilled with the results are we are.”
