Children's Miracle Network check presentation Advancial Donates Over $24,000 to Children’s Miracle Network
DALLAS (April 4, 2022)—Advancial Federal Credit Union presented Children’s Health℠, their local Children’s Miracle Network hospital, with a check totaling $24,106.56 during a small ceremony at their Dallas campus located in the city’s downtown medical district on Monday. Representatives from Advancial presented the donation and then toured the facility.

“Giving back to the communities we serve is a key part of our vibrant corporate culture,” said Brent Sheffield, President and CEO of Advancial. “Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals serves our communities as they work to provide children with the healthcare they need and we’re proud to support those efforts with this donation,” he said. “Seeing what they do to help kids in person really drove home how important their work is. It was a profound experience.”

Advancial’s donation was comprised of funds raised from two internal efforts. Employees have the opportunity to donate to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals every year during an annual pledge drive. Employees can provide a one-time donation, or have a donation amount deducted from their paycheck throughout the year. On top of those donations, Advancial put together a “Family Feud” style teambuilding game for employees as part of its annual all employee meeting in January. To commemorate Advancial’s 85th year in business, the company donated $85 for every employee who participated in the game.

“Our employees always come out strong to support our annual pledge drive,” said Hannah Paxton, Advancial’s Employee Development Analyst who helps to head up the annual pledge drive. “It’s really encouraging to work for a company that prioritizes giving back to great causes like Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals,” she said. “We had a ton of fun playing Family Feud and were able to contribute even more to support the great work they do.”

“Children’s Health is grateful to be the recipient of this generous donation,” said Paulette Mulry, associate vice president of development at Children’s Medical Center Foundation. “Advancial Federal Credit Union and their employees’ support of our hospital through the Credit Unions for Kids program helps to further our mission to make life better for children. We thank you for your advocacy in our community and wish you congratulations on 85 years of success.”

Advancial Asks Members to Oppose Proposed IRS Reporting Rules
We want to inform you about legislation currently being considered that would negatively impact you – our members – and to ask for your help in fighting it.

WHAT IS HAPPENING

The infrastructure bill being debated in the United States Congress contains a proposal that would require financial institutions, including Advancial, to report to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) the amount of money that flows through accounts holding more than $600.

HOW THIS IMPACTS YOU

Personal privacy – this proposal would violate your privacy by forcing Advancial to provide the government with extensive, detailed data about nearly all of your financial transactions.

Extraordinary regulatory burden creates added costs – Advancial is a not-for-profit cooperative and it would be very costly for us to comply with this burdensome regulation. Higher costs for us mean we would have to raise loan rates and fees and lower our dividend rates in order to pay for this compliance, providing much less value to our members.

More unbanked Americans – such regulation would promote mistrust and dissuade Americans from using safe and sound financial institutions like Advancial. Initiatives to promote financial inclusion for underserved and low-income population segments would be set back decades.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Please consider lending your voice to this important effort and use this link to the Grassroots Action Center for the Credit Union National Association(cuna.org) to notify your Representatives in Washington, D.C. that you oppose this new legislation. The form will automatically find your representatives based on your address. In only a few clicks, you can help fight this legislation.

Fraud Alert – Secret Shopper Scam
Advancial has been notified by the CFPB and NCUA of a scam targeting people with fraudulent cashier’s checks purporting to be from Advancial. Individuals receive these checks by mail and they’re presented as a part of a “secret shopper” program. They’re instructed to contact “Courtney Sanders” to let them know they received their assignment. They’re instructed not to tell anyone about the program.

The individual is instructed to cash the fraudulent check and then take the funds to purchase a variety of gift cards. Once they’ve purchased those gift cards, they’re instructed to fill out a survey where they’ll submit the gift card numbers. They’re told if they do it quickly they’ll receive a “bonus” payment. This rush is a key detail – the fraudster needs the individual to act quickly before the check they cashed gets returned and the victim realizes they’ve been defrauded.

This scam is in no way affiliated with Advancial. If you receive one of these scam communications, DO NOT cash the check or follow any of the instructions. Contact Advancial directly via phone at 800.322.2709.

Advancial Wins 2021 FEM Americas EMMA Award for Banking, Tax & Financial Services Innovation of the Year
DALLAS (June 10, 2021) — Advancial Federal Credit Union was named the winner of the 2021 Banking, Tax & Financial Services Innovation of the Year award at the Forum for Expatriate Management (FEM) Americas Expatriate Management and Mobility Awards (EMMAs) on Thursday, June 10, 2021 during an online ceremony.

“The FEM EMMAs remain the gold standard awards for the global mobility and international HR industry. They are the only truly global, yet region-specific awards with the greatest breadth of categories for both corporate professionals and service providers” said Claire Tennant-Scull, Global Director of Content & Events at FEM.

This is the second win in a row for Advancial, after winning for the first time in 2019. The awards were cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Advancial’s Inbound USA program serves international assignees who are relocating to the United States for employment. These individuals often have difficulty obtaining financial services since the credit history they have in their home country doesn’t carry over to the credit system in the United States. Advancial recognized this distinct group and has worked to create a program to help these individuals obtain the financial tools they need.

“Our Inbound USA program has grown so much since we set out to help this underserved market,” said Jennifer Bell, Business Development Manager at Advancial. “It’s been a challenging process and we’ve encountered some unique obstacles, but our talented team has tackled each one to create a rich and unique suite of offerings for expats. We’re thrilled that our efforts have been honored again!”

“Advancial has tapped into a much needed market to provide financial services to individuals inbound to the US without credit. Their creative approach to supporting one of the biggest barriers in mobility, while ensuring they limit their organizations risk is top notch,” said the judges, commenting on Advancial’s entry for the 2021 competition.

“I have been so impressed to see the quality of work undertaken by individuals, teams and organizations in the midst of so many challenging circumstances,” continued Tennant-Scull. “It is a demonstration of how resourceful and resilient the people who work in this industry can be, and I think everyone who took part should feel very proud of what they have achieved.”
